How long does it take to receive the notification after the Snowbird Home Monitor detects a water leak or other problem at my home?

The alerts are generated in real-time and are sent to your phone or email immediately. If you have enabled the audible alarm to alert you, you will hear the alarm if you are in range. In addition, you have online access to readings when you login to the Snowbird website.

How long does it take to set up the sensor?

The Snowbird works immediately to alert you to water and freezing temps with an audible alarm. It only takes a few minutes to connect the unit to your WiFi network, allowing you to remotely monitor water, temperature, and humidity and receive text and email alerts.

Do I have to be at home to hear the alarm?

No, alerts can be received no matter where you are.

What do I need besides the Snowbird Home Monitor itself?

Just an outlet with power. You can purchase a device and subscription on our site and your device will arrive with everything you need. No separate internet or WiFi needed.

How far can the water sensor reach from where it’s plugged in?

The water sensor cord is 10ft (~300 cm).

How can I monitor several Snowbird Home Monitors at the same time?

You can login to this website using your email and see all the units you are monitoring at any time, even when you have not received an alert. You can add the location of each device (Utility Room, Laundry Room) to more easily monitor several devices.

How do I know which Snowbird Home Monitor set off the alert if I have more than one?

When you setup the unit, you can name each monitor based on its location (or call it anything you want). Text message and email alerts will tell you which location has an issue. If you enabled the audible alarm, only the unit(s) recognizing an issue will go off.

Does the subscription start as soon as I purchase?

No, your subscription will start when you have the device and power it on. If left unactivated, subscription will automatically start 6 months after purchase.

Where can I use a Snowbird Home Monitor?

The device can be placed anywhere in your home, and is usually placed near potential water leak areas: in the sump pit, by a washing machine, by a water heater, or near any floor drain.
